A Walking Tour of Thomas Paine’s Lewes

After the madness of BAAS, led back to the path of reason on the cobbled streets of Lewes by Paul Myles, president of the Thomas Paine Society and author of The Rise of Thomas Paine: and the Case of the Officers of Excise. As you are led through the unique history of East Sussex’s county town, Paul will tell the story of how the relatively unknown Paine came to be thrust onto the international stage and his literary role in the American War of Independence.

“Paul Myles has become the custodian of the reputation of Thomas Paine … a remarkable job he is making of it.”- Melvyn Bragg
